Rookie Rodney Carney likely out for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Rookie Report, Big Sixers News, Injuries, Front Page by alleyoop on Monday 5 March 2007 at 12:23 am

Rodney Carney has a torn right rotator cuff and labrum and will likely miss the remainder of his rookie season. He played in 55 games and he averaged 17.4 minutes, 6.3 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. He was a decent shooter from the floor as he hit 45.5% of his shots. But, he wasn’t a good free throw shooter as he only made 60.3% of his charity tosses. He looks like a keeper for the rebuilding 76ers.

Chris Webber waived by the Sixers

Chris Webber has been bought out and cut loose by the Sixers. He reportedly has alot of teams interested in him such as the Miami Heat, Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s questionable as to what he can add to any of those teams as he played poorly for the Sixers. Webber played in 18 games this season and averaged 30.2 minutes, 11.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. He also lost his shooting touch as he only hit 38.7% of his shots this season. Getting rid of Webber should help the overall attitude of the Sixers. Joe Smith will take over as the starting power forward for the Sixers.

76ers get huge haul in trading Allen Iverson to the Denver Nuggets

Blogged under Big Sixers News, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 20 December 2006 at 12:59 pm

The Philadelphia 76ers finally traded Allen Iverson and they got a huge haul for him. The Sixers also traded rookie forward Ivan McFarlin with Iverson for point guard Andre Miller, forward Joe Smith, and 2 2007 first round draft picks.

Andre Miller is one of the best point guards in the NBA. He’s unselfish and makes all the players on his team better than they really are. Miller has played in 21 games this season and has averaged 35.7 minutes, 12.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 1.52 steals per game so far this season. Joe Smith has played in 11 games this year and has averaged 13.5 minutes, 5.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game this season.

For Miller’s career, hehas played in 594 games and had averaged 34.2 minutes, 14.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 7.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Joe Smith has played in 762 games and has averaged 29.1 minutes, 12.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game so far this season.

Andre Miller will make Andre Iguodala a superstar, and will help Chris Webber play much better than he has so far this season. Also, look for Kyle Korver to increase his scoring due to Miller getting the ball to him more when he’s open. Joe Smith will back up Webber and give the Sixers quality minutes off the bench.

Allen Iverson soon to be through in Philly

Blogged under Big Sixers News, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 11 December 2006 at 2:46 pm

Allen Iverson abruptly demanded a trade on last Friday and has played his last game as a Sixer. Iverson played in 15 games this season and has averaged 42.7 minutes played per game. Iverson averaged 31.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 2.2 steals per game. The Sixers will not be a better team without him no matter what they get in return.

For his career as a Sixer, A.I. has played in 697 games and averaged 41.7 minutes per game. Iverson averaged 28.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 2.3 steals per game for his career. Iverson will certainly be missed in Philadelphia as he was the best Sixers player since Julius Erving.
