Sixers mangled by Celtics 101-81

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 14 December 2006 at 2:45 am

The Sixers only hit 39.7% of their shots from the floor and allowed the Celtics to hit 52.1% from the floor. It’s almost impossible to win that way. The Sixers really need to get rid of Iverson soon, so they can get some help.

Kevin Ollie led the way for the Sixers with 14 points and 4 assists. Andre Iguodala had a decent all-around game with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Chris Webber was shooting bricks all night long (4 of 17) and wound up with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Samuel Dalembert was tough around the basket with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Willie Green added 10 points and 4 rebounds.

The Sixers fell to 5-16 on the season with this loss.

Rodney Carney is looking good

Blogged under Rookie Report, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 12 December 2006 at 7:21 pm

The Sixers have to be happy with Ridney Carney. They have moved him into the starting line-up after Iverson demanded his trade and he’s held his own. He has played in 19 games and has averaged 15.2 minutes, 4.5 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game so far this season.

None of the rest of the rookies have gotten much of a chance to play. Ivan McFarlin has played the most. He has played in 9 games and has averaged 3.9 minutes, 1.6 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game so far this season.

Steven Smith has only played in 5 games and has averaged 2.2 minutes and 0.4 rebounds so far this season.

Bobby Jones has only played in 4 games and has averaged 1.1 minutes, 0.3 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.3 assists.

Carney will determine how this draft class is graded and he’s off to a good start.

Sixers nipped by Blazers 81-79

The Sixers better trade Iverson soon so that they can bring in some help. The Sixers only shot 37.7% from the floor in this game. Andre Iguodala had a fantastic game with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Kyle Korver added 10 points and 5 assists. Chris Webber was very active with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists.

The Sixers fell to 5-15 with this loss.

Shavlik Randolph injured in practice

Shavlik Randolph fractured his ankle in practice on November 30th and will be out indefinately. This will hurt his development a little bit as he was playing pretty decent before he got injured.

76ers fall again 86-84 in Orlando

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 11 December 2006 at 7:35 pm

The Sixers fell just a little short against the Magic on Saturday Night. Chris Webber played inspired basketball with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Andre Iguodala (the new A.I.) had a good game too with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Kyle Korver added 16 points. Samuel Dalembert was tough near the basket with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.

The Sixers shot well hitting 52.3% of their shots from the floor but they were out-rebounded 45-31 and that hurt. The Sixers fell to 5-14 on the season with this loss.
