Small Forwards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 13 November 2006 at 6:35 pm

Andre Iguodala will be the starter at small forward for the Sixers this season and he should have a fine season. Iguodala played well last season and averaged 12.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Andre has been a complimentary player to Iverson and Webber, but he has the potential to be much more than that. Iguodala is a fine shooter (49.7% FGs, 34.3% 3’s, 75% FTs) who helps spread the court to give Iverson and Webber more room to operate. Andre also is a great finisher on the fast break. Iguodala has averaged 10.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game over his career and he’s played in every game over his first two seasons.

Rookie first round pick Rodney Carney will be the back-up to Iguodala. Carney has a very similar skill set to the starter and he’s a good defender. Carney should get some playing time, and he will do alot with it too. He was a good pick for the Sixers.

Sixers fall at home 108-101 to Nuggets

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 11 November 2006 at 11:07 am

The Sixers shot well tonight (47.6% FGs) but it wasn’t enough last night against the Nuggets. Kyle Korver led the team with 23 points and 7 rebounds off of the bench. Allen Iverson was off last night as he only shot 6 of 20 from the floor. A.I. wound up with 21 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists. Samuel Dalembert had a good game with 17 points & 6 rebounds. Chris Webber scored 16 points & grabbed 7 rebounds. Willie Green pitched in with 10 points. Andre Iguodala had a solid all-around game with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists.

The Sixers have to win games at home like this if they want to contend for the playoffs. The Sixers are now 3-3 on the season.

Sixers lose a tough one 106-104 to Raptors

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 8 November 2006 at 10:26 pm

The Sixers out-rebounded the Raptors 53-45, and out-shot them 49.4% to 40.9% and still lost the game. Can’t blame in on Allen Iverson, who scored 35 points & dished out 10 assists. In the Sixers last game, Coach Cheeks pulled Chris Webber and Samuel Dalembert because he didn’t like their effort on the boards…..that was not a problem tonight. Webber scored 14 points, snatched 13 rebounds, dished out 6 assists and blocked 2 shots. Samuel Dalembert was awesome tonight. He scored 13 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, stole the ball twice and blocked 5 shots! Andre Iguodala scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Kyle Korver had an inspired game off of the bench with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Willie Green shot well and scored 12 points.

The Sixers should have won this basketball game, so it could sting a while.

Sixers get pushed around by Pacers 97-86

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 7 November 2006 at 11:44 pm

This game was really never closer than the final score. The Pacers pushed the Sixers around all night, out-rebounding them 52-32! A.I. was a little off tonight as he hit only 8 of 22 shots from the floor for 20 points. Kyle Korver and Willie Green each scored 14 points apiece. Andre Iguodala scored 10 points & grabbed 7 rebounds.

The Sixers were do for a stinker and this game definately qualified as one of those.
